Join your neighbors on Friday, August 28, 2026, as they gather at the Lincoln Memorial for the March on Washington – Defend the Vote, commemorating the 63rd anniversary of the historic 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.

Organized by the National Action Network in conjunction with the King family and the Drum Major Institute, this gathering is an opportunity to reflect on our nation's history and take action for equality, civil rights, voting rights, and economic justice today.

⏰ DAY-OF SCHEDULE

• 8:00 AM — Attendees begin arriving
• 9:00 AM — Program begins
• 1:00 PM — Program concludes
• 1:15 PM — March begins

☀️ WEATHER

• High near 83°F, low around 70°F
• ~45% chance of rain — dress comfortably and bring rain gear just in case!

🚇🚗 GETTING THERE

Metro (Strongly Recommended)

• Foggy Bottom–GWU (Blue, Orange, Silver): ~0.8 miles from the Lincoln Memorial (15–20 min walk).
• Smithsonian (Blue, Orange, Silver): ~1.2 miles from the Lincoln Memorial (25–30 min walk).
• Check WMATA for day-of service changes and allow extra travel time!

Rideshare & Drop-Off

• Legal drop-offs are permitted near the Lincoln Memorial.
• Suggested Reference Point: Constitution Avenue, NW & Henry Bacon Drive, NW.
• ❌ DO NOT use Daniel French Drive for rideshare or passenger drop-offs.

Parking

• Parking near the memorial is very limited. If driving, reserve garage parking in advance in the Foggy Bottom/GWU area using apps like SpotHero or ParkMobile. Do not rely on street parking.

🎒 WHAT TO BRING & COME PREPARED

• Comfortable walking shoes & weather-appropriate clothing
• Sunscreen and a hat
• Fully charged phone + a portable battery bank
• Personal medication & snacks
• ID and emergency contact info
• Travel light! There is no guaranteed secure storage on site.

🚫 WHAT NOT TO BRING: Weapons, alcohol, drones, fireworks, glass containers, or hazardous items. Please review the NPS Superintendent's Compendium before arriving.

📢 A Quick Travel Note: You may notice a visible law enforcement presence (National Guard, U.S. Park Police, MPD, Federal agencies) around D.C., transit areas, and the National Mall. This broader presence should not automatically be assumed to be associated with the March—we are sharing so you are aware as you travel through the city.
